Welcome to the official website of Gauteng North Masters Athletics. We are one of the thirteen Masters athletics provinces in South Africa and situated in the capital, Pretoria. We are affiliated to SAMA (South Africa Masters Athletics). 

Our annual Gauteng North Masters Track & Field Championships will take place on 2 October 2010, of which will be our our 29th championships this year. Events for Masters consist of all the usual events in which senior athletes usually participate. The event will be hosted at the Pilditch stadium, Pretoria.

Masters athletics is open to all Masters athletes (35 years and older) up to an international level. However, provision is made for athletes ages 30 to 34 to compete in all provincial, national and regional Track & Field championships. Masters athletics is organised in 5-year age categories, eg. 30-34, 35-39, etc,. right up to 90's. (The oldest Masters’ athlete in South Africa is currently 89 years old).

The South African Masters Track & Field Championships take place on an annual basis and the events hosted also consists of all the usual events. Provision is also made for Race Walking (on the track & road). The 2010 championships will take place in Belville, Cape Town on 30 April and 1 May 2010.

Provision is also made for Cross Country athletes to participate in 5-year age groups at the various annual Provincial championships and the annual National championships.

The World Masters Championships takes place every second year, the last one being during 2009 in Lahti, Finland. The events hosted also include an 8km Cross Country race, 42,2km marathon and Race Walking (on the track & road).

Records of performances are kept at a Provincial, National and International level.
